Visual Inspection Cases of Automotive Engine Turbines

  In recent years, China's automotive industry has continued to experience rapid development with increased production and sales. The customer in question specializes in manufacturing automotive engine components and has over 20 years of experience in producing precision parts for the automotive industry. They primarily focus on producing automotive turbochargers, which are critical components within the engine. Turbochargers, driven by coaxial impellers, improve the engine's combustion efficiency by increasing the power output through high-speed rotation. Any defects, cracks, or pinholes in the turbocharger can result in oil leakage, increased fuel consumption, and the loss of balance in the bearing impellers.

  Therefore, the customer has specific requirements:

  1.The industrial endoscope needs to have high image clarity, with a minimum resolution of one million pixels.

  2.It should have customizable naming and labeling functions. Since the customer needs to capture a large number of photos and videos from different positions and automatically record, edit, and archive them, it should also possess the ability to mark identified defects for easy traceability.

  The actual inspection conditions are as follows:

  The customer primarily inspects turbocharger components, which have a flow channel diameter of approximately 3mm-5mm. There are two curved passages inside, and to observe the internal wall of the flow channel, a complete 360° rotation is required, while the inlet diameter of the flow channel's inner wall is around 6mm.

  The challenging aspects of the inspection process are:

  3.A complete 360° rotation is necessary to view the entire flow channel, which adds to the frequency of use and results in significant wear and tear on the equipment's front-end lens. Consequently, this increases costs and reduces the lifespan of the equipment.

  Proposed Solution and Selection:

  4.We propose using the Y-series industrial endoscope from Shenzhen Weishi Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., which offers a resolution of one million pixels. This device can meet the requirements of inspecting the internal parts of the turbocharger through a 360° view and provide clear and intuitive judgment of whether the internal components are acceptable. It also allows for capturing high-definition images and videos, which can be stored in a built-in 64GB solid-state drive to prevent data loss. Additionally, it features two USB ports and VGA video output for direct connectivity.

  5.We recommend using a 2.8mm diameter endoscope to inspect internal defects within the flow channels. The endoscope inserted into the cavity enables real-time 360-degree guidance and has a built-in illumination source. Inspection personnel can observe the internal images through an LCD monitor without the need for disassembly or damage to the cavity. The industrial endoscope can capture photos or record videos of any problematic or defective areas without causing disruption to the internal structure.

  6.To mitigate lens wear due to repeated inspections of the inner walls, we have utilized a reinforced alloy lens protector. This thickened material reduces wear and increases the lifespan of the lens. Considering the customer's high product quality requirements and the necessity for strict quality control to meet market demands, our endoscope equipment ensures clear visibility of the internal components. The customer expressed satisfaction with our products and we were able to address their specific concerns.
